The new Missoni Home collection 2009

Nature’s travel sensations, memories, surreal mirages rendered in hyper realistic portraits on fabrics and furnishings. Deserts and plateaux, lushly imaginative oases, kaleidoscopic tropical hothouses. Colour dominates. Full or mellow, layered, concentrated, shaded, creating symphonies of chromatic scales.

The new must-haves for 2009 are cacti’s sculptural forms, their silhouettes and rare flowers: echinopsis, aeonium, euphorbia, aloe. Stencil effects, tempera paintings and Indian-ink drawings reproduce elements of the plant world, details interweave and mould into the dynamic geometry of stripes and checks, the essence of the Missoni aesthetic.

Luxuriant vegetation bursts forth in sinuous green cascades and flaunts itself in multiple explosions, even on rugs and furnishings. A timeless chromatic language based on equilibrium and pluralism, communicating with pre-existing styles and profiles.

MissoniHome is new and different each year, but it also looks back at classic elements and iconic motifs. Blown-up details are, once again, a traditional feature of this rich, comprehensive collection whose prestige exudes from the uniqueness of each piece.

Amidst the foliage swathes of the intricate herbarium for 2009 is the charm of great little exclusives and a penchant for innovation transferred to materials and forms.

Fabrics have an aura of age-old manufacturing blended with modern, creative jacquard and printing techniques. Perfectionism radiates from reversible piqués, cotton satins and linens, classic canvases for outdoors, quilted metallics, multicolour terries and 13 shades of a nonsolid plain.

A free conceptual vision of classic or innovatory combinations permeates furnishing ideas. Remoulded shapes, a different look at details, a revised spatial prospective and a stimulating furnishing plan – everything traces back to the same lifestyle attitude.

"From its textile-centric beginnings, MissoniHome has moved into a full set home collection whose every detail exudes research. New ideas translate into exclusive colours and forms: the design of a seating element, the edge of a carpet, the extraordinary appeal of indoor- outdoor elements," says Rosita Missoni.
